Jharsuguda, Odisha : Jharsuguda MLA Tankadhar Tripathy has written to the District Collector highlighting the growing problems caused by overloaded trucks and irregular parking in the district.
The MLA pointed out that heavy vehicles carrying excessive loads are using National Highway 49, creating significant inconvenience for local commuters. He urged the administration to regulate the movement of such trucks until the NH-49 bypass and Kolabira bypass are fully operational.
Tripathy emphasized that trucks transporting heavy loads must comply with road safety norms, including proper securement of cargo and leak-proof transport, to prevent accidents.
He also raised concerns about vehicles being parked haphazardly along roadsides, leading to traffic congestion, obstruction of footpaths, and blocked driveways—factors that increase the risk of road accidents.
The MLA suggested immediate clearing of obstructions on key routes, including Prasanna Panda Chowk to Kherual Bridge, Bordamal Square to Sarbahal Road, and L.N. College to Kureibaga Road.
Tripathy also recommended strict enforcement action against violators and called for the formation of a dedicated enforcement squad to ensure smooth traffic flow and adherence to the law.
By taking these measures, the MLA stated, Jharsuguda can improve road safety, reduce congestion, and ensure the efficient movement of people and goods across the district.
