Bhubaneswar , Odisha : Sri Arun Kumar Jena, former Technical Consultant at DPC, SSA Mayurbhanj, and Junior Engineer at RWSS, Paralakhemundi, has been convicted in a disproportionate assets (DA) case.
Odisha Vigilance charge-sheeted Jena under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption (PC) Act, 1988, and Section 109 IPC for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance, Baripada sentenced Jena to rigorous imprisonment of two years and imposed a fine of Rs. 1,00,000.
Following the conviction, Odisha Vigilance will request the competent authority to dismiss Jena from his position as Junior Engineer at RWSS, Paralakhemundi, Gajapati district.
This conviction highlights Odisha’s continued efforts to combat corruption and ensure accountability in public service. Authorities emphasized that public officials involved in financial irregularities or misuse of power will face stringent legal action.
Vigilance authorities reiterated that regular audits, vigilance checks, and transparency measures remain essential to curb corruption and maintain public trust.
Sri Arun Kumar Jena’s conviction serves as a strong warning to other public servants, signaling zero tolerance for disproportionate assets and corrupt practices in Odisha’s administration.
