Balangir, Odisha : In a significant step towards building a safer and more responsible society, Jharanipali Gram Panchayat in Balangir district organized a public awareness camp in collaboration with Agalpur Police Station. The initiative aimed to promote a crime-free, drug-free, child labor-free, and child marriage-free community, while fostering trust and cooperation between citizens and law enforcement.
The event saw active participation from panchayat representatives, women, and local residents, highlighting the community’s commitment to social reform. The Sarpanch of the Gram Panchayat, Mrs. Sunita Sahu, addressed the gathering and emphasized that empowered and aware citizens are key to strengthening local governance. She urged villagers to collectively oppose social evils and contribute actively to community development.
Working alongside police officials, Mrs. Sahu encouraged the audience to recognize gram panchayats as the foundation for peace, security, and justice at the village level. Her leadership serves as a model demonstrating how proactive voices at the grassroots can not only guide panchayat development but also ensure a safe and dignified life for every citizen.
The awareness camp included discussions on citizens’ responsibilities, prevention of social vices, and the importance of collaboration between the community and police. Attendees were motivated to take ownership of their roles in maintaining social harmony and safeguarding the rights and well-being of all community members.
This initiative is part of a broader effort by local authorities to engage the public in creating a resilient, equitable, and socially responsible society. By raising awareness about critical issues such as crime, drug abuse, child labor, and child marriage, Balangir’s gram panchayat aims to foster a culture of accountability and collective action.
