New Delhi : Hockey India on Thursday unveiled the 20-member Indian Women’s Hockey Team for the Women’s Asia Cup 2025, scheduled in Hangzhou, China from 5th to 14th September. The tournament carries immense significance as the winner will earn direct qualification for the 2026 FIH Women’s Hockey World Cup, making it a high-stakes event in the international hockey calendar.
India has been placed in Pool B, facing Thailand, Japan, and Singapore. The campaign will kick off against Thailand on 5th September, followed by a crucial match against Japan on 6th, and conclude with Singapore on 8th. Top performance in the pool stage will be key to building momentum for the knockout rounds.
Led by dynamic captain Salima Tete, the team combines seasoned campaigners and emerging talents. Goalkeepers Bansari Solanki and Bichu Devi Kharibam will safeguard the post, while defenders like Nikki Pradhan, Udita, and Jyoti provide solidity at the back. The midfield boasts players such as Neha, Lalremsiami, and Sharmila Devi, offering both creativity and stability. The forward line, featuring Navneet Kaur, Rutaja Pisal, and Beauty Dungdung, promises pace, precision, and goal-scoring firepower.
