Pakistani cricketer Haider Ali has been arrested in England over allegations of assaulting a woman. The 24-year-old batsman was taken into custody by Greater Manchester Police on August 3 from Beckenham Ground during Pakistan’s ongoing England tour.
According to the complaint, the incident allegedly occurred on July 23 at a location in Manchester. Haider has been released on bail, but his passport has been confiscated, restricting his travel.
In response, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has suspended Haider until the investigation concludes and has confirmed that legal assistance is being provided.
In an official statement, the PCB said, “We respect the legal process in England and will take appropriate action in line with our regulations once the investigation is complete.”
Haider made his international debut in 2020, representing Pakistan in 2 ODIs and 35 T20Is. This is not his first disciplinary issue—he was previously suspended during the 2021 Pakistan Super League (PSL) for breaching COVID-19 protocols.
