Devotees Flock for Shiva’s Blessings on Third Shravan Monday

Today marks the third Monday of the sacred Shravan month, a day of deep spiritual significance for millions of Lord Shiva devotees. From the early morning hours, massive gatherings have been witnessed at major Shaivite shrines and riverbanks across the state and the country, as worshippers perform the ritual Jalabhishek the sacred water offering to Lord Mahadev.

Kawariyas, clad in saffron and barefoot, have traveled miles on foot, carrying holy water from distant rivers to offer at Shiva temples. The sight of long processions of devotees, chanting Lord Shiva’s name and walking with unwavering faith, has turned pilgrim routes into vibrant spiritual corridors.

According to belief, offering water to Lord Shiva during Shravan is said to fulfill one’s wishes and bring mental peace. Devotees follow strict rituals and traditions, collecting water each Monday from rivers and carrying it on their shoulders  often in symbolic slings  to be poured on Shiva Lingams at prominent temples.

To ensure safety and order, tight security arrangements have been implemented at all key river ghats and pilgrimage centers. Police and administrative officials are on high alert to manage crowd flow and ensure disciplined darshan for all.

As temple bells ring and chants of “Om Namah Shivaya” echo through the air, the spiritual atmosphere on this third Shravan Monday is nothing short of devine.
