Bhubaneswar, Odisha : The Odisha Excise seizure of illicit liquor and narcotics worth ₹1.15 crore has sent shockwaves across the state, following day-long raids conducted by the Odisha Excise Department.
During the operation, the Department detected 223 cases, including 4 under the NDPS Act. A total of 80 persons were arrested, while 78 were released under Section 35 of BNSS.
Seizures included 11,442 BL of ID liquor, 17 BL of IMFL, 99 BL of beer, 115 BL of country spirit, 259 BL of OS liquor, 1,24,030 BL of fermented wash, 13,950 kg of gur wash, 33 litres of duplicate foreign liquor, along with 40 kg of ganja and 711 kg of mohua flower, Brown sugar 80 kg.
Enforcement teams also seized 42 vehicles used in the illegal trade. The total value of the seized articles amounted to ₹1,15,36,517 on the day, while the cumulative value of seizures since 1st September has reached ₹18,03,74,970.
The Excise Department reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining zero tolerance against illicit liquor and narcotics to safeguard public health and ensure effective enforcement across the State.
