Jharsuguda, Odisha : A blood donation camp was solemnly organized by the Meher Bhulia Samaj of Jharsuguda district at a private hotel in the city to mark the 100th Shraddha Divas (death anniversary) of the legendary poet Gangadhar Meher. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from Meher Bhulia community members both from within the district and neighboring regions.
The camp, held as a tribute to the literary icon, successfully collected 87 units of blood, marking a significant humanitarian gesture in his memory. Gangadhar Meher’s 100th death anniversary was observed on April 4, 2024, and the community decided to honor his legacy through social service.
The blood donation drive was formally inaugurated by Chandrashekhar Meher, President of the Chaujilla Meher Bhulia Samaj, who attended as the Chief Guest. Other notable attendees included Executive President Shatrughna Meher, General Secretary Pabitra Mohan Meher, Town President Pramod Meher, Pradeep Meher, and various zonal representatives such as Bansidhar Meher (Ladymang), Ganesh Meher (Raghunathpali), along with Rasabihari Meher, Ravi Meher, Hemalata Meher, Parbati Meher, Rukmini Meher, Mamata Meher, and Minati Meher.
Their active presence and coordination ensured the smooth execution and success of the camp.
The Meher Bhulia Samaj has announced that all participating donors will be felicitated during the upcoming celebration of Gangadhar Meher’s birth anniversary, reinforcing the community’s commitment to social service and cultural heritage.
