Malkangiri, Odisha : In a dramatic rescue that gripped an entire village, a 3-year-old boy from Korukonda in Odisha’s Malkangiri district was saved after getting his head trapped inside a steel pot while playing.
What began as innocent play quickly turned into a nightmare on Thursday morning. Tanmay, the young son of local resident Pradeep Biswas, was playing with a newly bought steel vessel when curiosity got the better of him. In a playful moment, he slid his head into the pot—only to find it wouldn’t come out.
Panic gripped the family. Despite desperate attempts, the vessel wouldn’t budge. Realizing the gravity of the situation, the parents rushed Tanmay to the nearest fire station in Korukonda. There, firefighters assessed the risk and swiftly transferred the child to the Malkangiri main fire station, better equipped for such emergencies.
A special rescue team swung into action. Armed with precision tools and nerves of steel, the firefighters carefully used a metal cutter to slice through the vessel—taking almost two hours of painstaking work to ensure the child remained unharmed.
Finally, to everyone’s relief, Tanmay was freed safely. Miraculously, he sustained no serious injuries.
Locals hailed the fire brigade for their swift and skilled response, crediting them for averting what could have been a tragic incident. Fire officials later issued a public advisory, urging parents to remain vigilant when children play with household items.
