New Delhi : Union Home Minister Amit Shah, speaking in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, confirmed that three terrorists responsible for the brutal Pahalgam attack which claimed the lives of 26 civilians were neutralized in a recent counter-terror operation named ‘Operation Mahadev’.
All three terrorists, identified as members of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) outfit, were killed during the joint operation conducted by the Indian Army, CRPF, and Jammu & Kashmir Police. Their bodies were brought to Srinagar, where they were identified based on prior forensic leads.
“Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) reports of cartridges recovered from the Pahalgam attack site had already confirmed their involvement. The rifles seized from the terrorists in Operation Mahadev matched these findings,” said Shah.
The Home Minister stated that the security forces had been granted complete autonomy to take action.
“The Army was given full freedom to act. Our forces went into their hideouts and crushed them. Those who sent terrorists to kill our citizens were themselves eliminated in their own homes,” he added.
“Whoever comes to kill will be hunted down and neutralized.”
The revelations came during the second consecutive day of debate in Parliament on ‘Operation Sindoor’, which has sparked major political discussion. Members from both the ruling party and opposition actively participated in the debate.
According to sources, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi is scheduled to make her remarks at 1:30 PM, followed by K.C. Venugopal at 2:30 PM, and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi at 5:00 PM.
The success of Operation Mahadev is being hailed as a major blow to cross-border terrorism and a strong example of India’s proactive counter-terrorism strategy in Jammu & Kashmir.
