Bhubaneswar, 21st August 2025: The 19th edition of the Yuva Jyotirvigyani Talent Hunt (YYTPS) has officially begun in Odisha. Science & Technology Minister Shri Krishna Chandra Patra inaugurated the program at Lokseva Bhavan. The initiative is organized in collaboration with Tata Steel and the Pathani Samant Planetarium under the Department of Science & Technology.
The program aims to honor the legacy of legendary Odia astronomer Pathani Samant and ignite scientific curiosity among the youth. This year’s theme, “Today’s Stargazer, Tomorrow’s Astronaut”, focuses on inspiring students to explore astronomy and space sciences.
Students from classes VI to VIII and IX-X will compete in quizzes and online assessments at district and block levels. The top two students from each district will be invited to Bhubaneswar on 13th December for the final selection. Experts will evaluate their models and presentations to select the top 30 winners, who will be felicitated during the event.
Winners will also get a unique opportunity to visit ISRO centers, gaining hands-on experience in space research and observing India’s advancements in astronomy and technology.
During the inauguration, Minister Shri Patra released the official booklet for this edition and emphasized that all students have equal opportunities to participate. He noted that the program not only nurtures scientific thinking but also fosters future leaders in India’s space science sector.
Since 2007, YYTPS has inspired students, developed scientific talent, and nurtured curiosity in astronomy. Over 230 winners have previously visited ISRO centers, gaining invaluable exposure to space research.
